Jenny Mills - Portrait Artist

Jenny Mills In Her Studio

Jenny Mills, a native of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area, comes from a family steeped in artistic tradition.

Since early childhood, Jenny has painted alongside her family. The first years of her life were spent in the Amazon of Brazil with her missionary parents; during that time, Jenny and her sister drew for ‘hours on end’ together for entertainment. Since then, she and all three of her siblings have pursued their interests in Art, Music, and Literature.

Jenny Mills has painted portraits and landscapes by commission since 1987. She paints landscapes in watercolor depicting the cherished Louisiana landscape. She is a watercolorist, works with different drawing mediums (pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink), and uses versatility in style to depict her subjects. Jenny Mills also teaches Art Lessons privately and plays a Celtic harp. Jenny offers her artistic services to clients in Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana and beyond.

Having begun her formal Art training at 8 years of age, Jenny displays a deep, innate, natural talent enhanced by years of professional instruction. From the creation of commissioned portraits, to her native Louisiana landscapes, her eye for the nuances of color and light as seen in real life are obvious on her finished canvases.

Jenny Mills also spends much of her energy passing on her love for the arts to others. She volunteers in her local community to promote the arts, and was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” in 2011 by the Zachary Chamber of Commerce for her leadership and initiative in the Zachary area arts scene. Adults as well as a new generation of young artists, including her two children, are learning from Jenny Mills through private classes taught at her studio.
